SMU Industry Awareness Talk

Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) partnered Singapore Management University (SMU) to organise the inaugural maritime industry awareness talk on campus. Through this event, SMF hopes to heighten the maritime “consciousness” among undergraduates. Over 100 undergraduates were involved

Three notable professionals from the port operations, ship-broking and marine insurance sectors were invited to share interesting facets of their maritime careers and the exciting career prospects to the undergraduates. They included Mr Eddy Ng, Vice-President (Container Terminal) PSA Singapore, Ms Shirley Ow, Underwriter, QBE Insurance (International) Limited and Ms Melody Cheng, S &P Broker, Star Asia Shipbroking Pte Ltd. The speakers also provided insights on the dynamic maritime environment and the respective roles they play in the maritime industry to the 100 undergraduates. The two-hour session ended with an interactive Q&A session which saw undergraduates raising pertinent questions on maritime careers and current issues.
