As part of its initiative to reach out to youth, the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) organised the Sea Asia Youth Tour 2011. In its third year, this guided tour
leverages on the most maritime mega-event, Sea Asia Conference and Exhibition, to allow maritime students to gain a better understanding and appreciation of the
magnitude and significance of the maritime sector.
More than 100 youth across various Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) took part in Sea Asia Youth Tour 2011. Prior to the tour, Mr David Chin, Executive Director
of SMF, addressed the students and highlighted the integral role of the Singapore maritime sector and its close links with the economy. Representatives from selected
maritime companies generously shared insights about their companies and available internship and career opportunities for young people. Thereafter, the event concluded
with a reception hosted by SMF.
