The Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) collaborated with Mr Tim Clark, Lecturer of Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI), and over 35 students
from his class to develop a marketing campaign to convince parents, grandparents and other key influencers of youth that the maritime sector is the choice sector for
young people to pursue dynamic and rewarding careers.
Students were briefed to come up with a campaign based on a "seed funding" of S$25,000 and were given free play to the form and platform of the campaign. They were
also told that their marketing campaign will be judged according to three main criterion; effectiveness, creativity and team presentation.
After one week, all teams presented their MaritimeONE campaign to a panel of judges. Despite the tight time-frame, all of the students embarked on various research
methodologies to determine feasible campaign platforms that would allow them to reach their target audience effectively. Some teams even went all out to impress the
judges with their out-of-the-box marketing strategies!
The judges were very impressed with the students’ work and would award the best team and the first and second runner-ups attractive cash prize. We extend our
heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all teams for their hard work and may work towards implementing some of the creative marketing campaigns proposed.
