Making Waves – Tips for success in school, work & life, from 10 maritime professionals
(A MaritimeONE publication)
In April 2009, the Singapore Maritime Foundation launched its second MaritimeONE publication, Making Waves - Tips for success in school, work & life, from 10 maritime professionals. This publication was circulated to secondary schools and institutes of higher learning.
Through this initiative, SMF hopes to bring the maritime industry closer to the youth through maritime personalities – young maritime professionals. To many youths, the general misconception they have about the maritime industry is that it is all about sea-faring, or working in shipyards. However, in reality, there is a myriad of exciting shore-based career possibilities for diploma graduates and university graduates from various disciplines. SMF hopes to address these misconceptions about the maritime industry and debunk these stereotypical views through this light-hearted feature magazine.
In Making Waves, ten maritime professionals from the diverse sectors in the maritime industry reveal personal stories and share their passion for the maritime industry. These ‘big brothers and sisters’ will also share tips on how to excel in school, work and life. Making Waves is an initiative under MaritimeONE network with the three maritime partners; Association of Singapore Marine Industries (ASMI), Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and Singapore Shipping Association (SSA).
