The 4th Maritime Lecture Speaker Series, Shipping - Singapore and the Sea: Strategic significance and career opportunities for young Singaporeans, was held on 27 August 2010 at DBS Auditorium.
President of the Singapore Shipping Association, Mr S.S. Teo delivered the opening speech to welcome Guest Speaker, Professor Tommy Koh. Professor Koh is currently the Ambassador-At-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the National Heritage Board and the Centre for International Law at the National University of Singapore. He is also the Special Advisor to the Institute of Policy Studies.
Professor Koh treated his audience to a lively presentation. In his speech, he shared the historical links between Singapore and the maritime sector, the importance of the maritime industry to the Singapore economy today and the myriad of exciting career opportunities that the maritime industry has to offer to young people.
The seminar was well-attended by 300 students from various institutes of higher learning and maritime professionals.
