Over 300 maritime students from universities, polytechnics and Institute of Technical Education visited the iconic maritime show of Singapore, Sea Asia 2009 at Suntec Convention Centre on 23 April 2009 as part of Maritime Youth Day. This special event was organised by Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF), with the support from maritime companies and institutes of higher learning.
Mr. David S. S. Chin, Executive Director of SMF gave the students a briefing on interesting facets of the maritime industry and the varied career opportunities available in the industry. Students were brought on a guided tour at the exhibition hall and interacted with the international exhibitors. Through this initiative, SMF hopes that these students will gain a realistic sense of the magnitude of the global maritime business and Singapore’s exciting maritime sector.
