Jointly organised by SMF and the Singapore Maritime Academy, Panama Canal, a special maritime industry talk, was held on 15 July 2011 at the Singapore Maritime Academy, Singapore Polytechnic. Mr Alberto Aleman, Administrator of the Panama Canal Authority, was the guest speaker for the session. His Excellency Jose Antonio Ruiz Blanco, the Ambassador of the Republic of Panama, also graced the session.
Panama Canal aimed to heighten the Singapore maritime community’s awareness on the recent developments on the expansion of the Panama Canal. Mr Aleman covered the topic on the Panama Canal from three key perspectives, business, engineering and navigation and its impact on world shipping. The session was well attended by over 270 maritime professionals and students.
