In the third quarter of 2009, the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) partnered Singapore’s main Chinese newspaper, Lianhe Zaobao in a push to raise the profile of the Singapore maritime sector. SMF worked closely with Zaobao and APL to formulate two maritime advertorials to highlight recent developments in the Singapore maritime scene, business links with China and views of some of the key maritime leaders in this sector.

The advertorials featured prominent maritime leaders such as Mr Eng Aik Meng, President of APL, NOL, Mr Michael Chia, then Managing Director (Offshore) of Keppel FELS, Mr Erik Borgen, Regional Director and Head of Asia of DnB NOR Bank ASA, Mr Vincent Lim, CEO, Northeast Asia, PSA, Mr Kenneth Koo, CEO of Tai Chong Cheang Steamship and Mr Giles Lane, Managing Director of Clarkson Asia Pte Ltd. These leaders shared insights into their companies’ core businesses and echoed Singapore’s position as a leading international maritime centre.
