The MaritimeONE Case Summit Awards Ceremony was held at PARKROYAL on Beach Road on 5 April 2023, to recognise the achievements of all finalist and merit teams who took on the challenge statements issued by our three sponsoring companies- CMA CGM, Rio Tinto, Swire Bulk and Swire Shipping.

On 29 March 2023, the General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA) and the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) jointly organised the 47th Maritime Knowledge Shipping Session (MKSS),  titled “Greenhouse Gas and Alternative Fuels”.

In this session, Mr. Abhishek Chawla shared on the challenges, options, considerations and approaches from a container shipping line’s perspective to decarbonisation. After which, attendees gained exposure to an underwriter’s perspective on decarbonisation of shipping, shared by Mr. Rama Chandran. The last segment was presented by Dr. Ken Tay on the role of maritime sector in a net-zero world. The presentation showcased an overview of global decarbonisation scenarios and what it will take to reach Net-Zero.

This seminar was part of the MKSS, a series of seminars where insurance and maritime experts are invited to present insights and analysis on the current and emerging trends in the marine insurance and maritime sectors.

Three hundred industry leaders across the diverse spectrum of Singapore’s maritime ecosystem gathered at the Singapore Maritime Foundation New Year Conversations 2023. The event was held at Shangri-La Singapore.

Mr. Chee Hong Tat, Senior Minister of State for Finance and Transport, graced the event as the Guest-of-Honour and delivered a speech.

This was followed by a panel discussion which focused on how shipping can successfully navigate the cross-currents of geopolitical tensions, changing energy and trade flows, environmental pressures and an evolving workforce. The panel was moderated by Mr. Andreas Sohmen-Pao and comprised of speakers Mr. Alex Hartnoll, Mr. Edward Koo, Mr. Frederik Guttormsen and Mr. Lars Christian Kastrup.

The MaritimeONE Case Summit 2023, organised by the Singapore Maritime Foundation, returns for the 4^th edition this year with leading multinationals the CMA CGM Group, Rio Tinto and Swire Shipping/Swire Bulk as sponsors.

Students from all of Singapore’s public and private universities as well as the polytechnics are eligible to register for the MaritimeONE Case Summit 2023. Through challenge statements on the intersection of maritime and sustainability, the three companies will plug students into the industry’s transformation journey. After a process of shortlisting in February, the sponsor companies will mentor the finalist teams through to the Grand Final on 5 April 2023.

This year, the SMF Connexions Forum 2022 addressed the shifts in perceptions of the workforce emerging from the pandemic and how HR professionals can adopt a human-centric approach in shaping the employee experience.

The session was led by speaker Mr. Goh Jia Yong, Partner, People Advisory Services at EY, who delivered a presentation on “Reimagining the Employee Experience for the Post Pandemic Workforce”. This was followed by a panel discussion on lessons from the frontline by CHROs of leading maritime companies, as they embark on reshaping their employee experience in a world of accelerating change.
